Special guest: Kai Dead Chicken and Oliver Shount, talkin about their new projekt: Bigger Personalities.
The self-titled album Bigger Personalities fuses Kai’s sound with material that Shunt had recorded over
the course of thirty years—guided by the motto: “This is what I’ve always wanted to express, and it’s
been slumbering on my hard drive all this time.” The album opens with the haunting track
“Alptraumbilder,” which revisits chilling, 1984-inspired lyrics alongside spectral synthesizer textures and
noise elements. It continues with the rocking riff of “Einzelkämpfer,” segues into the powerful “Dunkel und
Schön,” and concludes with the cinematic “Trauerspiel,” which brings the album’s first side to a close.
The second side opens with an arresting piece titled “Das Volk,” which layers chaotic synthesizers over
an underlying guitar riff to interpret the modern era of inhomogeneity—only to then transition into “Time 2
Spend”: a manifestation of oblivious time-wasting, in which one has a “damn good time” set against a
laid-back guitar solo in the style of “The Velvet Underground on speed.”
